PRODUCT DESCRIPTION AND REVIEW: Sale Ryobi RYBRHT600R Lowest Price in UK : This is a review of the 700 watt version that apart from the slightly larger motor and blade length is probably the same. <br /> <br />I was looking for a replacement for my old McCulloch Tivoli 65 that finally gave up the ghost. I wanted a fairly powerful motor with a decent length blade but preferably lighter than petrol hedge trimmer. <br /> <br />I bought mine from a well known high street ‘tool’ retailer in one of their VAT free weekends. Getting it home and opening the box my first thought was that it larger than I had expected and heavier! Not that it put me off that is until I saw the label that stated made in Hong Kong. Trying not to let that put me off I made a start on the hedges in my back garden. <br /> <br />I had already cut the hedges right back last year so it was mostly fresh growth and growth up to a relatively small 9mm in diameter. After less than an hour a buzzing sound started from the rear handle quickly followed by a plume of thick white smoke from the top of the motor housing. Quickly unplugging the hedge cutter I left it gently smoking in the garden while I went to ring the shop! <br /> <br />It was the last one in the shop and being slightly put off by my experience I decided to pay a bit extra and went for the Bosch AHS 7000 Pro-T and very glad I did. <br /> <br />In defence of the Ryobi it was probably just a manufacturing fault. However I have to say that it didn’t feel as well made as I had expected. It did cut well although I didn’t get chance to try it on thicker material. The rotating rear handle was useful but it did feel a little flimsy in use. <br /> <br />However I have to recommend the Bosch. It is a far superior machine. It feels better made and more durable. The blade is very sharp and cuts much better and the lack of a rotating rear handle is of no importance as it can be operated quite comfortably at 90 degrees as it is.
